Dorothy Taylor Palermo, age 98, peacefully passed away on December 22, 2021, in Newark, NY. She was born July 1, 1923 in Sloatsburg, NY, the youngest of Philip and Jennie Taylor’s five children. She was a resident of Airmont for 93 years, but spent the last five years on Long Island and in upstate NY. She was a 1942 graduate of Suffern High School, and worked at Ajax and Avon prior to becoming a parent. She was a long-time member of Christ Lutheran Church in Airmont. She was devoted to her family who cherished her baking, particularly her apple, pumpkin, and peach pies and Tollhouse cookies. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Salvatore (Jack) Palermo, who died in 2001, and her four siblings: Norman, Elbert, Julia, and Elizabeth. She is survived by her daughter Kim Palermo of Webster, NY, her son Bob Palermo of Bethesda, MD, her grandchildren Dave Ayling, Becca Bley, Elena Palermo and Max Palermo and her great-granddaughter June Ayling, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews. Visiting will be at Edwards Funeral Chapel at 160 Orange Avenue, Suffern, NY, on December 30th at 12:30 pm followed by a service at 1:30pm and interment at Airmont Lutheran Cemetery. A gathering will be planned in the future for a time with better weather and with less risk of covid spread.
